Site plan, 2D/3D layout and zones
Site plan, 2D/3D layout and zones
What this feature is for
The site plan represents the actual layout: stages, control rooms, dressing rooms, booths, walkways, and safety zones. It is used to validate the layout before arriving on-site and to share a common vision.
Where to find it
Preparation → Venue Plan, with 2D and 3D views and the zones panel.
Hierarchy: Venue → Spaces → Zones. Each space contains zones; a zone hosts a stage, bar, toilets or other installations. Linking a stage never changes the zone's space. Historical stages remain accessible even without a zone. Unassigned items are preserved. Deleting a space does not delete zones, stages or equipment.
Click the drawing icon beside a space or zone, place its vertices and finish with Enter. Names and colors follow their records. Save the plan to keep the outlines. Deleting an outline does not delete its record.
Expand the drawing using the expand icon. The horizontal toolbar sits above the canvas and includes selection, drawing, pan and zoom. Back to plan or Escape reduces the plan without losing the drawing; Escape first closes the catalogue or cancels pending object placement.
The catalogue icon offers toilets, bars, tables and existing equipment. Choose a zone and object, verify dimensions in metres, then click the plan. Preset dimensions are indicative and editable: verify the actual equipment dimensions. Objects share the existing 2D/3D layout. Select an object to adjust dimensions, rotation or zone, and drag to move it.
GPS venue outlines provide the scale. Without GPS, measure a known distance with the measurement tool, enter its real length and confirm; save the plan to persist the scale. Placement requires a scale reference and positive dimensions.
Geographic outlines stay aligned with the map background when expanding or reducing the plan, zooming or changing views. These display changes do not modify saved footprints.
The Tape measure and Dimension tools are left with Escape (a first Escape cancels the pending point). To remove a dimension: click its line to select it (it turns green), then press Delete; right-click the dimension to delete it directly. Escape deselects. The "clear measurements" button removes all measurements and dimensions at once.
Steps
- Enter the site name and address in the show information: the map background automatically centers on that address. You can also import a floor plan.
- Place layout elements: stage, control room, barriers, tents, water points, restrooms.
- Draw the zones (public, backstage, VIP, catering, emergency) and name them.
- Switch to 3D view to check heights and clearances.
- Save, then export the plan to attach it to technical or safety files.
What happens next
The plan is shared with the team and stored in the project documents. The zones serve as a reference for equipment annotations and access instructions.
Who can take action
Technical management and production. Others can view.
Common issues
- The background plan is blurry: import a higher resolution file or a PDF.
- The map background does not load: check that the address is complete. If one GPS coordinate is missing, the address is automatically used to locate the site.
- The proportions are wrong: set the scale based on a known distance before placing elements.
- The 3D view does not display: try another browser or a more recent device.
FAQ
Does the plan replace an official safety plan?
No. It helps with preparation, but regulatory documents remain the responsibility of the organizer.
Can we have multiple layout variations?
Yes, one per configuration, which allows for comparison before making a final decision.
